Uzbekistan Launches Tax-Exempt Crypto Mining Zone in Karakalpakstan
Uzbekistan has established a regulated cryptocurrency mining zone in Karakalpakstan through a presidential decree, offering significant tax incentives until 2035. The framework, effective since April 20, requires licensed entities to repatriate all mining revenues through domestic banks while permitting international sales of mined assets.
Mining operators can trade digital assets locally or abroad, including direct sales contracts and conversions to other cryptocurrencies—provided proceeds flow back to Uzbek bank accounts. The policy aims to formalize capital flows and align with broader financial oversight goals. Resident status for mining firms requires approval from the Council of Ministers' directorate.
